For more than two years now, Family Media has been giving TV viewers and radio listeners within the East and Central African region an opportunity to receive crystal clear signals via satellite. The maneuver life of INTELSAT 802 satellite, which has been executing signal transmission since 1997 when it was launched, has expired, resulting in signal degradation. But there is no need for alarm. There is good news. In its place we are going to have NSS-12, a state-of-the-art and more powerful replacement that has already been successfully launched and is already orbiting along the 57º East Longitude over the Indian Ocean Region.
NSS-12, which has been designed to have a minimum expected lifetime of 15 years, will provide comprehensive and robust coverage of virtually the entire Eastern Hemisphere, serving Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. The satellite will reach an estimated two-thirds of the world's population and greatly boost communications services for telecommunications providers, broadcasters, corporations, and governments in these areas by bringing increased capacity and transmission power.
To fit into this new scheme of things, we are required to undertake a "satellite migration" that will involve some adjustments to our dish and receiver settings. 28th February is the migration deadline. After February 28th, the signal will only be available from the new satellite. To avoid any signal interruption, we are advising all those who are currently enjoying our programmes via satellite to make these adjustments immediately.
