Last Sunday, May 9th, the whole world celebrated Mother's day which is a special day to appreciate all moms. Family Media in conjunction with the Nairobi Serena Hotel did it in style. Family Media through Radio 316 was running a promotion whose response was great. We thank all those who submitted entries to tell us about their moms. Most of the stories were wonderful and we wish we could reward all of you. The much sought after title of Family's Best Mom went to Charity Ntiba Bokindo a mother of 4. The lucky mum who got to enjoy a night at the Nairobi Serena Hotel was nominated by her 20 year old 3 rd born daughter, Rachael. Her story was a unique one.

Charity's was a victim of an abusive marriage that ended in divorce. She stood by her children, sacrificed for them and gave them the best she could within her limitations. Rachael recalls with tears in her eyes when their biological father walked out of their lives; her mom hugged them all knowing that she had been left all alone with all the heavy burden of bringing up four children.

Rachael remembered how, as a teenager, she had fights with her mother. She cited one case when she shouted at her mom and telling her how much she hated her. But instead of beating her up for being disrespectful, her mother showered her with endless love. According to Rachael after shouting to her mum the pain gripped her knowing the words she had uttered would never be erased from her heart. She knew no matter how much she hated her mom, she was still the best in the universe. How could she ever undo those “curse” words she hurled at her mom? Family Media provided her with an answer in the form of Family's Best Mon competition.

Another memorable day was when she found her mom alone behind their house, crying. Asked why she was crying the mom responded with a smile that an insect had entered her eyes, and then carried Rachael to the house. How better can one express mothers' love? Rachael's mom just like any other woman kept to herself all her sadness for the sake of her children. We at Family Media know that moms are great women of faith, who despite their personal problems will go a mile further to help anyone in need. Aren't they God-sent angels on earth?

Family Media congratulates all mothers and we celebrate them here everyday. Our Family's Best Mom had a good time with her daughter at the Serena Hotel and Rachael is now grateful that she said sorry to her mom in style and expressed how much she loves her despite the hardships they have faced. She thanks Family Media for making her dream come true. When contacted on phone they both had no words to express their joy. Well one lesson that we can learn is that our mothers always want the best for their children. Let us show them love always and appreciate every little thing they do!
