Your monthly live health show – Doctors on Call – will be coming to you this Sunday from 4:00pm on both Family TV and Radio 316. According to the host, Susan Mwongeli, the show will have a variety of topics unlike last month's which focused only on tuberculosis and kidney diseases. On the panel we will have Dr. Anne Kihara (gynaecologist), Dr. Tom Ochola (dental surgeon), Dr. Mbugua (nephrologists') and Dr. Wafula (paediatrician). The show will also have a few segments on how to care for your kidney, prevention of dental decay and a special feature on a serious condition called ‘multiple anterior pituitary hormone.
For a long time now, this show has been very helpful to people all over Kenya and in the Diaspora. Viewers and listeners have been learning a lot through the discussions and advice from the panellist as well as the short video clips featured on the programme. The show gives crucial health information on all kinds of diseases and conditions, free of charge and regardless of age. Through SMS people are able to freely ask questions that they would feel shy to ask openly. The greatest achievement is when people call back to appreciate the show and acknowledge that they have been helped.
Dr. Ann Kihara, who is an obstetrician-cum-gynaecologist, has been many people's favourite due to her kindness and willingness to assist even in the most difficult situations, like emergency labour. She says whatever she does is from deep down in her heart and is always grateful to God for giving her an opportunity to help. Her work as a gynaecologist involves helping women with virginal problems like candidacies as well as delivering babies. Her job takes a big heart – for example complications may occur during delivery but she says God is always there for her during such and other difficult moments.
