‘CARING FOR THE NEEDY IS TRUE RELIGION’

Last week, Family Doctor highlighted a chilling account of a mother struggling to take care of her daughter who suffers from a rare skin condition. Caroline Njeri is a mother who forges on in the hope of a better day for her sick daughter Josephine. Caroline with her frantic visits from hospital to hospital has depleted her resources and not yielded any fruit. When the going became tough, her husband and father of her ailing child left. Family and friends also followed suit and mother and daughter have been left to survive on their own. See video above .

This is just but one medical story among many. Disease has the power to wreck havoc and when vulnerable people are affected, getting the required help is often an uphill task. As Christians, we are given the responsibility and opportunity to practice true religion. The first chapter in the book of James records that true religion is taking care of the needy in society and upholding their dignity for the glory of God.
