MAU FOREST DRYING UP
WHO IS TO BLAME?

At creation God put man in charge of the land urging him to conserve and take good care of it and everything that is in or on it.
Genesis 1:28-31 “God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."
Today man has forgotten the task given to him by God at creation and destroying what God was proud of. Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good."
Take for example the situation in our country Kenya today. Most of us are suffering massively due to man’s carelessness and for not obeying God’s rules at creation. Water has become so scarce despite so many warnings by environment conservers and many more who have always warned us against tree cutting.
The Mau Forest Complex, which consisted of 22 forests until one was completely parcelled out by the Kanu regime, forms part of upper catchments for all except one of the main rivers cutting through the Western side of Rift Valley is the main water fountain for 12 main rivers has for a long time heated the media headlines for all the wrong reasons with the raging political war over uncontrolled human settlement in the complex and its unplanned exploitation. due to this “carelessness Kenyans are suffering , there is not water in their house holds that is leading to many more problems like the power rationing that is around the corner. The big question remains: who is to blame for this mess?

Caught in the web of the political tussle are the over 4 million people who according to research occupy 578 locations in Kenya and others in Northern Tanzania who drink and feed from Mau’s water fountain.
It is estimated that the Mau has the potential to produce 535 megawatts of hydroelectric power; representing 47 per cent of installed electricity generation capacity due to its reduced flow some parts of the country is already experiencing power rationing.
Are there any roles that we as Christians can play to help save the beautiful creation by God?
