HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRAY?

JOIN PRAYER CIRCLE ON RADIO 316

Do you have a reason to praise God today … everyday? Radio 316 has a platform that is specifically designed to bring light in the dark places in your life and to motivate you to praise God always during a one hour live programme dubbed 316 Prayer Circle that comes every weekday at 7:00pm only on Radio316 . The show is all about encouraging the discouraged, praying for all the needs that listeners have sent in through sms line 4316 or email.

316 Prayer Circle is a show that is designed to encourage listeners through prayer and thanksgiving as well as reassuring them that “Everything is possible for him who believes” (Mark 9:23) and “What is impossible with men is possible with God” (Luke 18:27). The show gives people an opportunity to talk about issues hurting them or affecting their lives, and requesting prayers for God's intervention in their situations.

Peter Karanja, the show host, says apart from praying for people with requests and counseling them, his greatest desire is to help them develop ‘muscles' to pray. “I don't look at prayer as ‘Aspirin' or ‘Piriton' that merely relieves pain. For me, prayers should heal, and that is why I encourage people to cultivate a culture of prayer and learn to pray on their own,” he says. “Most of the requests are personal, usually regarding relationships, finances, jobs and health.”

Karanja says some of the cases he encounters are heart-tugging and in addition to prayers, counseling is required. “Sometimes I have to deal with a caller who is on the verge of suicide and the time available on air may not be enough for counseling. In that event, I make follow-ups after the show by calling and, if necessary, meeting the individuals personally. I recall one lady who called in, depressed and desperate after being rejected at home. She wanted to commit suicide, but I'm glad that after counseling her and inviting her to church, she was able to overcome the pain and she is doing fine today. I also derive a lot of joy when I see people coming to Christ during the programme.”

To empower the listeners in their prayer life Karanja says he has initiated a series of teachings on prayer. “The objective of these lessons is to equip people with knowledge that they can apply in their lives. I also want to encourage people to widen their scope of prayer requests and include issues of social and national concern.”

Make a date with Peter Karanja every weeknight from 7.00pm as we all cast our burdens to Jesus only on Radio 316 .
