BUILDING HOPE-ONE PEOPLE UNITED

BLESSINGS RECEIVED

Marvelous works have been going on at the Maai Mahiu camp. Supporters of Family Media have so graciously been contributing towards the building of homes for the IDP’s in this area, restoring hope to their lives. One of these people is Evans Macharia, a seventy-five year old man who is overjoyed about moving into his brand new home.

Evans tells a sad story about how his own neighbors torched his home and attacked his friends, family and himself. His belongings were all stolen, and he was brutally beaten and left for dead after refusing to take part in the sadistic acts of violence that his neighbors were engaging in. Evans sustained several injuries, which have made his life more difficult now, such as swollen limbs and the inability to eat after having his teeth knocked out.

However, God had a plan for Evans and gave him the strength and direction to join a showground in Eldoret, and later at Maai Mahiu. He says that life at Maai Mahiu has helped him to get past the tragedies that occurred, and look forward to the future with newfound excitement.  He has the opportunity to move out of a torn tent, to a secure house. “This house has brought happiness”, says Evans. He lived in a bigger house before the chaos, but finds his new one even more suitable for himself.

“Welcome to my home!” Evans gestures gleefully. He shows us the progress of his home, and expresses that if he could, he would return the favor to those who have helped him. But in turn, he requests God to give the donors blessings and strength. Evans is only one of the 135 families that will benefit from the homes that Family Media and Habitat for humanity are campaigning to build.  To become a part of this heart-warming initiative, call Family Media on (020) 4200 000.
