There is a general bias against women in our society. For instance, a woman who makes it in school may end up becoming a victim of her own success. Often, she has to contend with a skeptical and harsh male-dominated workplace.
Moreover, those who choose to run their own businesses face competition that favours men. Few women ever get encouragement from our society to keep going when times are hard. Instead, they will be told to return home to take care of their husbands and children.
Lack of sufficient education and training for women has been a major impediment to the success of many micro-enterprises. Culturally, and especially in the rural setting, the girl child was denied the same learning opportunity as the boy child. This resulted in limited education and training (if any), hence stunting her performance in later life.
Over time, this trend of relegating the woman to menial activities has been waning and women are taking their rightful place in all spheres of life. However, it is still not smooth sailing since they have to face many storms along the way.
In the light of this, Family TV has re-launched SHE - "The Working Woman" that is tailored to address the setbacks that face the modern woman in our society. This program will highlight various activities women are undertaking. It will feature women at work, in social engagements, in politics, at home, in school etc. They will share their stories—their struggles, achievements, plans, and even failure and how they triumphed over it. SHE will be an educative program that will change the life of every woman who will watch it.
SHE has a lot lined up for you. So remember to make a date with “her” on Family TV every Friday at exactly 8.00 pm!
