The long awaited day finally was here! It was day that had seen a lot of preparation, sleepless nights and early start for many who traveled from Gilgil, Nakuru, Thika, Narok: I even spoke with one gentleman who had purposely come from Mombasa that morning to attend the tree plant event and would travel back that same evening.
Family Members began arriving as early as 8.00am on the dedicated transport service that was organized for our partners to make sure everyone could make it for the event.
As the day started off with registration, there was moments to enjoy Praise and Worship and even join in song and dance as we all got together with for a big colorful Family re-union;
But even with all the fun and festivity, everyone was clear about the day’s agenda and with the right set of instructions from Ignatius Muchora (Ngong Forest Sanctuary Coordinator) we were ready to set out and do just that…..plant trees:

Some were clearly doing this for the first time, and some of us had experienced hands in planting trees knowing even the scientific names of the indigenous seedlings such as Olea africanus (Olive Tree) and even bringing along a set of tools to get the job done.
Apart from the names hand painted on a memorial wall as a reminder, and the tags attached to the seedlings, every person had their own personal significance they attached to the tree planting. For some this was a spiritual event for others this was a time to personalize their partnership and meet other members of the family, and yet for some this was a re-union between old students and teachers.
But for all of us, this was a time to refresh the earth, encourage each other as the family of God, and reiterate our vision that together we can share Christ’s message to the continent of Africa.
We are so thankful to all our partners and everyone involved in making this day a huge Success.
