Devotion: February Week 1

24th February – 1st March

Text:   Psalm 120

Topic:  The Lord will answer me

Notice the attitude of the psalmist in his distress in v.1 (compare 2 Samuel 22:7)

The psalmist is here portrayed as a type of Christ, who was distressed by lying lips and deceitful tongues. Notice his action in v. 2. The Lord, the creator of heaven and earth takes time to watch over and care for all those who trust him and his word. Trust the Lord and his word today for your good. No evil will be allowed by the Lord to destroy your fellowship with him. See Romans 8:28 – 39.

Notice what the Lord does to the enemies who persecute the righteous v.3:4. The Lord will bring good out of all the afflictions, trials, persecution and suffering you may be going through now. The psalmist never gave up. Encourage yourself with God’s promise of his presence in Isaiah 43:1-2.

Notice the lesson derived from v. 4:7. Do not be contaminated with the evil influence of this world. Jesus has prayed for you. Read John 17:15.

WHAT NEXT? As long as we live in the world, the problems may compound but the good news is that the Lord will deliver us from all of them. (Psalm 34:17). Will you depend totally on God? You will not give up as you face the challenges of this day.
