IS THE CONSTITUTION TREATENED? |
CAN'T KENYANS DECIDE ON THEIR OWN? |
|
For more than twenty years now, Kenyans have craved for and even shed blood in their search for a new constitution. The decisions we make regarding the draft constitution will have an impact for centuries to come. Focus should therefore not be on the transient concerns, but on posterity. The draft has some contentious issues despite which Parliament passed the document without taking into account the consequences. There are conflicting views on the draft that are coming from church leaders on the one hand and politicians on the other, leaving Kenyans confused, especially because most have not seen it leave alone read it. PARTING SHOT |
The real differences around the world today are not between Jews and Arabs; Protestants and Catholics; Muslims, Croats, and Serbs. The real differences are between those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it; between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past; between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clench their fists. ~William J. Clinton.
