Yes! Your weekly reloaded health show, ‘Family Doctor', is scheduled to go on air this coming Monday, 19 th April. The show has got a new lease of life and it is now bigger and better. Just as promised, the show will have more topics discussed by different professionals, all on one show, unlike what we had previously where only one topic was featured. Next week the premiere show will be highlighting a condition called 'hypospadias'. What is it all about and how can one get help? On 1st April, the Kenyan parliament approved a new draft constitution which, among other things, promises more power to the people and greater respect for the rights of women and children. It also contains some clauses which directly threaten the life of the unborn, and this has already become a major issue in the run-up to a national referendum, planned for July 2 nd. During our live ‘Doctors on Call' show last Sunday, the panel touched on the issue but did not come to a conclusion. Dr. Gikonyo, a renowned cardiologist, said that abortion should have been left out of the constitution and an independent committee given the mandate to properly look into the subject. ................ ..Continue reading |

Almost all media houses, Family Media included, are having debates every now and then on the draft constitution. This is not because they do not have something else to air but it's for the sake of helping Kenyans understand the document well and be able to make the right decision on 2nd July, the referendum day. Besides Cross Talk – the current affairs show that comes every Wednesday from 8pm – Family Media has gone a mile further and come up with a blog dubbed ‘Constitutional Crossroads' to give Kenyans a chance to freely air their take and feelings on the document. Thursday last week, 8 th April was a significant day for both Family Media and Daystar University. Family Media team, led by the CEO – Leo Slingerland, arrived at Daystar's Athi River campus in time for the University's Chapel service. The team was on a mission to deliver a simple but critical message: “The spirit of service to the society” – serving like Christ would have done if He were here on earth. This was a timely message especially coming when the Easter mood was still alive. John 13:5 says that Jesus poured water in a basin to wash His disciples' feet as a sign of servant leadership.
